Painted in February 2024 on an en plein air painting trip to Venice. This piece was painted while sitting by the Traghetto Gondole Molo, near Doge’s Palace.

This piece is framed in a hand finished black frame with a gilt edge and gilt corner motif. Using traditional gesso, gilding, and ageing techniques, I have hand-finished the frames in the style of the 17th century Italian cassetta.

The frames made for this collection are especially designed as an extension of the painting - and a nod towards Italian history and culture.
