Pali di Casada

15 x 22cm

30 x 37cm framed

Oil on board

Painted in February 2024 on an en plein air painting trip to Venice. This piece is painted as an observation of the striking colour in Venice. The bright contrast between the reflection of the warm colour of the buildings and the blue striped canal poles is so indicative of Venice.

This piece is framed in a hand finished dark blue frame with a gilt edge and gilt corner motif. Using traditional gesso, gilding, and ageing techniques, I have hand-finished the frames in the style of the 17th century Italian cassetta.

The frames made for this collection are especially designed as an extension of the painting - and a nod towards Italian history and culture.
